The Denholm Group, which celebrated 150 years of trading in 2016, has announced the acquisition of Bennett & McMahon Agencies, by Denholm Global Logistics Limited, the forwarding business of the Group's Logistics Division.
Bennett & McMahon, based on the Wirral, was formed in 1994 by Mike McMahon and Ralph Bennett, specialising in the African continent and focusing on UK exports and cross-trades. Since its formation the business has expanded into other trade lanes and logistics activities, but still remains one of the leading UK forwarding businesses in the African market.
The acquisition complements the existing service offering of Denholm Global Logistics, which focuses heavily on the Far East and import markets. The purchase also brings with it an experienced senior management team, headed by Mike McMahon, who has been appointed Managing Director of Denholm Global Logistics.
Denholm Logistics Group, based in Liverpool and led by family member Niall Denholm, provides all aspects of Logistics, and operates businesses not only in Forwarding, but also Warehousing, Distribution, Port Agency and Vessel Chartering. The business has experienced significant growth in recent years both organic, and by acquisition, including expansion into Ireland by the purchase of Hamilton Shipping.
The business views the acquisition of Bennett & McMahon Agencies as an exciting opportunity, and a further strategic step in strengthening its position within the UK and Irish logistics market.
